March for Mary

My Dear Brothers and Sisters: I call all Catholics of our Local Church to take to the streets this    October for a “March for Mary” to show the world just how much we love the great Mother of God, Mary, Most Holy. On October 7th, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, we will gather at 2 pm at St Joseph Church, Peoria, and march     together to the Cathedral of St Mary for Solemn Mass at 4 pm concluding with a candlelight devotion. Those who participate in this special Marian devotion gain a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions of Sacramental Confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope. October is      Respect Life Month and the month traditionally dedicated to the Rosary. This entire year is a universal commemoration of the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. Our Lady, queen of Peace, invites us to be united in prayer and reparation. From the time the faith first reached the Illinois territory through the preaching of heroic French missionaries, Our Lady has blessed our local community. May she  continue to wrap us in her mantle and lead us to her Son.  Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Daniel R Jenky, CSC, BISHOP OF PEORIA
